From First Notes to Musical Mastery: Our 3-Step Learning Journey

We welcome music enthusiasts of all ages! While many of our students begin their journey between the ages of 4 and 7, we’re happy to evaluate each child individually to find the right starting point for their musical adventure.

The "Romance" Phase: Igniting a Love for Music

We require all students to begin their musical journey here, starting as beginners between ages 4 and 7. Classes are held in small groups of 3-6 children, allowing for personalized instruction and interaction. In a "Mommy and Me" format, parents or caregivers participate alongside their child, fostering a supportive and engaging environment. Each weekly 45-minute session introduces basic piano concepts through fun, hands-on activities that encourage both musical development and social skills.

The "Technic" Phase: Building Strong Musical Skills

In the Technic Phase, students typically between ages 7 and 13 build upon their foundational skills from the Romance Phase. Each week, they receive a 30-minute one-on-one private lesson with a classically trained piano instructor, focusing on an individualized lesson plan that emphasizes technical skill, theatrical aspects, practice habits, and preparation for upcoming auditions and recitals. Additionally, students continue to have a 30-minute group lesson with peers of the same age and skill level, fostering both personal and collaborative growth.

The ”Artistry” Phase: Personalized Skill Development

The culmination of years of dedicated learning, the Artistry Phase allows students ages 13-18 to truly shine. During this stage, weekly private and group lessons continue, and students reconnect with the passion and excitement from the Romance phase. With their skills finely honed since the age of 4, they now focus on bringing depth, emotion, and individuality to their performances—transforming talent into true artistry.

Why are group lessons important at all levels?

At the Brie Jones Institute, our unique group lessons create an inspiring and collaborative environment where young musicians grow not only in their skills but also in lifelong friendships. Starting in the beginner Romance phase and progressing through our carefully designed program, students learn and advance together within their age groups, much like a school setting. Through duet playing, peer performances, and engaging music games, students develop teamwork, rhythm, and confidence while fostering a sense of camaraderie and support. The group setting encourages active listening, adaptability, and constructive feedback, helping children grow into skilled musicians and well-rounded individuals. With every note, they build bonds and memories that last a lifetime.
